What to do next

Read character and pickup logic, then implement ability acquisition, feedback, use and persistence where needed.

A request you can use

Create an item that grants the player a new ability. Choose a reasonable implementation and connect it to the game.

How to verify the result

Check before/after behavior, repeated pickup and save behavior against the intended design.

Note

Start with a new test game to protect existing work. Check what is in the asset pack, what has been imported and what is actually used in the game. Review after saving and playtest when possible.
